Follem Dempeus moves within a political and pornographic analysis of contemporary society. By establishing links between the arousal caused by the political ideal of the extreme left and the romantic ideal, it constructs an illustrative plot with a parasitical pattern: an academic method more clearly belonging in the world of art is added to a pornographic context in a film essay and exhibitions, reclaiming a new way to understand sex, relationships and visual dissemination.
This is therefore a study and cultural-visual project that deals with the construction of the public and private self, both pornographic and political, within the framework of the creation of an explicit erotic genre. It presents a pornographic category with a connecting thread that aims to emphasize the study of privacy as a means of protest, sexual liberation and essential reflection: the act of seeing porn as an act of self-discovery, free from judgement or external views that cultivate future off-screen actions, safer, more empowering and feminist-aware. I analyse and reinterpret the feminist motto of the 1960s and take it to its extreme, tightening the relationship between all political and psychological conflict in relation to it.
In sketching two evolutionary cycles in parallel: individual personal growth regarding understanding of sex, desire and relationships, and a few days of political rupture, a social critique using porn emerges between the lines; the substitution of idealised romantic pleasure for the sexual arousal of an idol and ideals from the far left.
