Em dóna la gana! [I Feel Like It!] is a book for children aged between 9 and 12 that sets out to educate in food conducts and habits as it is aimed at children who are obese. The book has a large component of motivation to encourage kids to feel they have the willingness and determination to overcome a problem such as this.
Using graphic design, my aim is to help children with this problem to create new eating habits.
The visual language is marked by techniques. Each chapter tackles a different subject and is also created using a different technique (marker pens, pencils, wax crayons, watercolours and chalks). This way, I have tried to get closer to the children’s world and make the book a closer, warmer piece. Clicks play a major role, being a positive concept of reward, motivation and medal. They are the points that the child wins when they overcome the challenges satisfactorily. They are in the shape of a pixel in an attempt to come closer to the technological and digital world that is part of children’s lives today.
It is a typographical book in which there is no illustration that is not typographic. The typographic composition singularises each page to express different concepts in a fun and attractive way.
As an innovative aspect, it should be stressed that all the books on child obesity currently on the market are aimed at parents. I thought that it would be a good idea to produce a book devoted especially to children, with which they could identify and where they could see that it is a problem that can be overcome with hard work and determination.
