Typographic art, or typographic technique (composition using moveable type), is a cultural fact that can be understood and studied from many different fields. This is why, using the long tradition of and interest in the theatre in Esparraguera, I have created the following sample which discusses and reflects on about a hundred posters, programmes and other graphic products. The majority combine the ingenuity of local printers and the creativity of a very often curious, elegant and innovative form.

For this reason, we take a journey through the theatrical and political history of Esparraguera to see how the skills involved in printing and the innovations applied to it (in the form of ink, types and finishes) have been perfected.

The selection includes the most relevant aspects of posters in Esparraguera with a small exhibition that shows the evolution and the development through the various stages. It begins with the first book and document printed in the town by the Font Rosada printers and ends with the posters from the 1960s created by Gràfiques Esparraguera and Impremta Minerva.
