Babel project

The project carried out is in the town of Tossa de Mar. The space used is comprised of three buildings, one from 1852 that will be restored and two that will be pulled down because of their bad state and rebuilt.
The aim of the work is to create a practical and functional creators’ residence that will bring vitality to the town. This is to be achieved through two different programmes depending on the time of year, the residence in the winter and the restaurant and multi-purpose rooms in the summer.
When carrying out the restoration, not everything will be kept at any price, but attempts will be made to choose what is most architecturally relevant and enhance it with a language that is consistent with the rest of the elements of the space. The restored building will house public services such as the multi-purpose spaces/workshops while the newly-built part will be home to the private services and the residents’ bedrooms. The courtyard is the nerve centre of the project around which all the buildings revolve.
