Adrià Huguet Ferran

Physicist with a PhD in Engineering and Applied Sciences from the University of Barcelona, where he also completed a master's degree in Renewable Energy and Sustainability. His career combines applied research, technological innovation and teaching, with a particular focus on spectral engineering, smart lighting and the effects of light on people.

Teaching / Research

He teaches on Eina's Lighting programme. Between 2015 and 2022, he was a lecturer and master's programme coordinator at UNIBA (University of Barcelona), where he taught courses on efficient and intelligent lighting systems and supervised master's dissertations.

His doctoral research focused on the simulation and optimisation of LED light spectra, colorimetry and circadian lighting. He has developed algorithms, prototypes of multichannel luminaires and intelligent lighting control systems, and has collaborated with the Barcelona Supercomputing Center on advanced simulation projects. He has published scientific papers and presented findings at international conferences, including research on the use of machine learning in circadian lighting design.

Professional experience

He currently works in Eurecat's Digital Health Unit, where he develops data-driven and artificial intelligence-based research and innovation projects. His work focuses on data processing and analysis, the development of predictive models, and the application of machine learning and generative artificial intelligence techniques to new systems and tools in the field of digital health.

He previously co-founded Kumux, a spin-off company from the University of Barcelona specialising in smart and circadian lighting systems. As Chief Technology Officer, he led the development of software and algorithms for spectral simulation and optimisation, with the aim of adapting artificial light to people's needs and improving the efficiency of lighting systems. This role bridged scientific research, product development and technology transfer.
