Research laboratory: the design trade 1950 - 1990

Mireia Clusells, Lara Requena and María Sierra, students of the Bachelor of Design, have participated in the new edition of ‘Research Laboratory: the design trade 1950 - 1990’, the project organised by Disseny Hub Barcelona - DHub in connection with the temporary exhibition ‘100 IKEA objects we would have liked to have in VINÇON’.

The result of this study (methodologies, documentary processes, terminologies, visual maps, documentary files and problems) is compiled in an exhibition installed in the showcases of the DHub Library and Archive, which can be seen until 28 February.

The three Eina students were part of a group of fifteen students from six design schools (BAU, Eina, Elisava, ESDAPC, Massana and UOC) who carried out a research process on shops that played a crucial role in the dissemination and promotion of design between October 2024 and January 2025.

This project has been guided by the tutorship of María Isabel del Río, PhD in History of Design and teacher. And it has had the collaboration of several experts, including Tamar Mejías, art historian and master in libraries and heritage collections; Lara García Díaz, coordinator of Eina Research, research professor at Eina and PhD in cultural sociology, tutor of the first edition of the Research Laboratory.; Rossend Casanova, curator of the collections department of the Museu del Disseny; Juli Capella, architect and curator of the exhibition 100 IKEA objects that we would have liked to have at VINÇON; and Oriol Pibernat, historian and designer. They have also had the support of the Collections, Education and Documentation Centre (CDOC) departments.
