As part of "Designing Futures", a speculative design workshop led by Elena Bartomeu and Dolors Soriano, students on the EINA (UAB) Master's Degree in Research in Art and Design are presenting their fictions development projects based on the Sketch-based retrieval tool prototype of the Computer Vision Centre (UAB), a tool that allows the user to search for images based on a drawing done freehand in real time.
The aim of the workshop has been to speculate on the social changes that could come about based on the use of the prototype. They have begun developing future scenarios in which to specify possible uses and functions, and they have used creative tools to imagine the effects the prototype would have on the people who use it. Finally, the students collated the effects in different future society models, always based on the Sketch-based Retrieval Tool.
