(Òh!)pera: cultural co-creation and talent at the Liceu

EINA participates in (Òh!)pera, a project that combines small-scale opera with design, and is promoted by the Gran Teatre del Liceu, the Department of Tourism and Creative Industries of the Barcelona City Council, the Disseny Hub Barcelona and design schools in the city.

(Òh!)pera brings together young playwrights, stage directors and design students to create four new plays with contemporary themes, which will be presented on 9 and 10 July during the same evening at different venues of the Liceu (Sala Miralls, Teatrí del Conservatori and Foyer).

This initiative, with artistic direction by Àlex Ollé, showcases the city's emerging talent to project it internationally, encourages experimentation and learning for the students through a real experience and attracts new audiences to opera.

For the project, the Liceu has selected the composers Núria Giménez-Comas, Marc Migó, José Río-Pareja and Fabià Santcovsky, and Barcelona City Council's Directorate for the Promotion of Design has selected the different teaching centres in the field of the creative industries: EINA, BAU, ELISAVA, LCI and Escola Massana. The staging will be directed by Nao Albet, Alícia Serrat, Marc Chornet and Silvia Delagneau.

The commission has the particularity of having a maximum of 6 artists on stage, including singers and instrumentalists, who will collaborate in the project thanks to the support of the Fundació Ferrer Salat - Fundació Conservatori Liceu.

The lyrical pieces to be performed will be:

L'ocell redemptor at the Sala Miralls
Fabià Santcovsky, Marc Chornet and EINA

The Fox sisters at the Teatrí del Conservatori
Marc Migó, Silvia Delagneau and BAU
