MAGNA expo

MAGNA expo

‘MAGNA expo' was the exhibition of projects carried out by the students of the 4th year of the Bachelor of Design from the optional subject of Contemporary Edition, tutored by Enric Mas, on 10 February in premises number 40 in Salses street in the Horta district.

This is an extracurricular initiative developed mainly during non-teaching weeks, in a voluntary, collaborative and self-managed way by Alba Acebes, Sofía Ardid, Alex Bou, Martí Cabanas, Berta Colomer, Sofía Fernández, Claudia Monguió, Aïna Muelas, Aina Palmer, Diana Pelegrín, Marrily Ruiz, Maria Serrallonga, Elyn Tamag, Nerea Vázquez with the collaboration of Jan Bailo.

The subject Contemporary Edition is conceived as a territory of experimentation in which analogue practices of generation and speculation can coexist with multiple works, in a post-digital context that seems to lead us to the dissolution of authorship, the infinite reproducibility or the mutant immateriality of publishing productions, but where, at the same time, the conventions and traditions inherited over at least three centuries of history survive.

The exhibition included some examples of conventional editions in various techniques, together with works that started from more expansive budgets and transcended normative practices. In short, this exhibition has tried to be a celebration of the hours invested in the workshop and of the satisfaction of finally obtaining prints that met everyone's expectations.
