Ana Velasco, a student of the Specialisation Diploma in Creative Illustration and Visual Communication Techniques, created the illustration for the article “Bizancio. El gran Imperio de Oriente” featured in issue 59 of Librújula, a bimonthly magazine dedicated to the world of books and reading, which also has a digital edition.
In addition to the published image, the student developed a second proposal inspired by the distinctive Byzantine mosaics, showcasing the richness of detail and form characteristic of this artistic style. Although it was not ultimately selected, it proved to be a highly valuable piece in the creative process.
This collaboration is part of a project developed within the subject Introduction to the Press, led by programme coordinator and illustrator Philip Stanton. The aim of the course is to explore the professional fields available to illustrators in the editorial and press sectors, such as reports or cultural and institutional magazines. The activity is carried out as part of the collaboration agreement between Librújula and Eina’s programme.
