Workshop Introduction to Peri-Urban Rituals

Introduction to Peri-Urban Rituals proposes, within the framework of einaidea's advanced PERI⧹FERAL studies, a sensitive and critical exploration of the interdisciplinary practices that emerge on the margins of the city, where the everyday mixes with the symbolic and the natural with the constructed. Where the expansions and transformations of the future city are negotiated.

Together with Manuel Cirauqui, Mana Pinto, Mireia Molina Costa and Caterina Miralles, this session invites us to think about contemporary rituals that can shape peripheral spaces as living, hybrid territories in constant transformation.

What will you find?

In line with the philosophy of the PERI⧹FERAL advanced studies programme on the einaidea platform, this meeting aims to activate new ways of relating to the post-urban environment, recognising its gestures, materials and dynamics as having poetic and political power.

It is about observing how bodies, human and non-human, produce meaning on the edges of the city and how these rituals — improvised, communal, ephemeral, ancestral — can open up ways to rethink ecology, memory and artistic practice from the periphery.

Aimed at

  • Artists, visual creators, designers, architects interested in post-urban research.
  • Researchers and postgraduate students in design studies applied to the city, architecture, urban planning, human geography.
  • Urban and territorial design professionals interested in alternative and/or critical approaches.

Consult PERI⧹FERAL

PERI⧹FERAL, the advanced study programme organised by einaidea in collaboration with Eina, University Centre for Design and Art of Barcelona, aims to transform the way we look at and act on the city. Through the intersection of art, architecture and ecology, learn to read and intervene in urban margins from a critical, creative and contemporary perspective.

We will delve into new ways of inhabiting, rethinking the territory and working with the human and the non-human from a situated practice.
