Workshop Andrea Soto Calderón

Workshop “Genealogy through Images” by Andrea Soto Calderón

On 7 May, “Genealogy through Images” will take place, a free workshop led by Andrea Soto Calderón and linked to the University Master's Degree in Research in Art and Design (MURAD), which proposes a different way of engaging with images and the present.

In a context saturated with visual stimuli, this session invites participants to pause and question what is often taken for granted. What stories do images contain? What power relations run through them? What memories remain outside the frame?

Key details:

→ Mode: Online
→ Date: 7 May
→ Time: 18:00 – 19:00

Inspired by the critical tradition of Friedrich Nietzsche, the workshop approaches genealogy as a key tool in contemporary thought, exploring its shift from discourse to the visual domain.

Throughout the session, questions such as the following will be addressed:

  • What does it mean to construct a genealogy through images?
  • How can visual practices activate new forms of critical thinking?
  • What sensibilities emerge when we look beyond the obvious?

Aimed at individuals interested in art, research, and visual culture, this workshop requires no prior knowledge and is presented as an opportunity to explore new conceptual and creative tools.

“Genealogy through Images” forms part of an academic framework linked to MURAD, reinforcing its focus on contemporary research in art and design, and offering a space to think, observe, and question through the visual.
