In light of the increase in population that it is calculated we will be facing in 50 years’ time, and due to which getting food will be affected, I propose the challenge of building an agricultural skyscraper and creating its graphic image. Vertical Hort Urbà (Vertical urban garden) is a commercial garden with the structure of a supermarket, with the difference that customers pick the product directly from the soil. While consuming, they are learning the habits and customs of the country.
The aim is to bring the country to the city and the city to the country, making the most of the values and resources of each to offer a public that likes to take care of itself but that has little time to devote to it or little room at home and to a sector that is just starting out in this lifestyle.
My communication challenge consists of helping the customer to discover and learn all these habits, tricks and secrets as they go through the garden. I want to ensure that every member of the public can learn, collaborate in the process and enjoy the success of a harvest.
I have taken very much into account such aspects as the seasons and what can be grown when, soil rotation to get the most out of it, when and how to sow and harvest each crop, the moon, etc. It is a project that has been created from the idea of a new consumer and market structure. It is a starting point for imagining what this new system will be like.
