The project is the renovation and refurbishment of a detached house in Barcelona's Sarrià district to convert it into an interior design studio with an apartment for two people. The aim is to interrelate two spaces, used for different functions, into a single unit where the central thread is design that has been created and experienced.
The house dates from 1932 and its interior has undergone numerous changes that have removed it completely from its historical early twentieth-century past. This is the scenario for work to begin.
To implement this project, an in-depth study was made of the distribution of the space and incredible light that the building has to offer to include a working and living area that share the same access. The building consists of a ground floor and basement for the studio, a first floor and attic.
The project establishes a diaphanous space that connects the light from the front and rear façades, illuminating the structure of the building. To bring natural light to the basement, skylights have been installed in the ground of the internal courtyard.
