The aim of the project is to renovate a villa in Lleida’s kitchen garden and transform it into a meeting place for a very large family. The aim is to create somewhere that provides a pleasant and comfortable co-existence.
The idea is to reinterpret the structure of the typical rural house, taking the space occupied by the kitchen, dining room and living room as the centre of the house; restructuring the dwelling by adding the distribution of traditional family life (large communal spaces, small private areas) to its normal uses and all completed in a modern style.
When implementing the project, a series of basic premises were taken into account, including comfort, making full use of the space and connection between the different areas. All this has created an overall balanced feel, where the interrelationship between inhabitants and uses occurs naturally. This makes it possible to cook, eat and relax in a single environment, at the same time as the interior connects with the outside through large picture windows that enable natural light to flood in and provide the direct interior-exterior relationship. The aim was to combine and contrast the old and the new by combining materials such as wood, iron, clay tiles, glass and polished cement.
