Ángela Tomás - Rehabilitació i reconversió en hotel de l’actual Hostal París, Barri Gòtic, Barcelona.

Refurbishment and conversion of the present Hostal Paris into a hotel, Gothic Quarter, Barcelona.

The aim of the project consists of converting the hostel into a three-star hotel that meets accessibility and habitability regulations, improves accesses, aids routes and provides the bedroom floors with some degree of homogeneity.

With an irregular layout and a central inner courtyard, the building is in a precarious condition, and the new proposal aims to get the most out of its potential.

The project is developed around the central courtyard by wooden boxes that act as a belvedere both from the corridor and from the interior bedrooms.

The lobby, which is situated around the courtyard and receives all of its overhead light, is conceived as a rest space formalised with a large black carpet that stretches both along the floor and up the walls and the ceiling.

The bedrooms, all the same type, are planned as a single space subdivided into two areas: the living area and the wet room. They are linked by a continuous Corian headboard that acts as minibar, sink and wardrobe. The shower communicates with the bedroom as one of its side walls is made of glass, but it can be isolated by a motorised Gradulux.
