Mobment

In around 2002, sociologist Howard Rheingold wrote a book entitled Smart Mobs: The Next Social Revolution in which he talked about a new way of making contact with others, thanks to digital social networks. This was the context that saw the birth of a new phenomenon called flashmob, which consists of a number of spontaneous actions carried out by one specific crowd, on one specific day, in one specific location and at one specific time to create fleeting and unexpected scenes.

These types of movements have grown at an alarming rate throughout the world. I have created a festival, the Mobment Flashmob Festival, which provides the opportunity to enjoy all of this, to view the best flashmobs, hold workshops and many other activities related to this field. The festival offers a new way of creating these events using a smartphone app that arranges flashmobs digitally using augmented reality. The festival also has a website and free publications, all with contemporary graphics created using 3D cartoons which offer an abstract representation of the highly complex world of how flashmobs are formed.

MOBMENT offers the way to tell the world about this movement which invites you come and be part of it.
