La Masía Jaumandreu is situated in the geographical centre of Catalonia, in the village of Fals (municipality of Fonollosa). Covering some 330 hectares, the estate lies on an agricultural plain and features a vineyard and a bodega, where the whole wine production process is carried out.
The main aim of the project is the renovation of a twelfth-century farmhouse to turn it into a wine therapy spa that would also include a restaurant, a bar, a hotel and a shop. As well as the main aim, it is also sought to raise the profile of the Jaumandreu brand, develop a complementary activity to the main one (wine production) and solve the problem of waste generated during the wine production process by using it for the wine therapy treatments.
The proposed intervention seeks to maintain the physical and working traits that identify the farmhouse, such as the stone walls, the external tower, the arches, etc., combining them with new materials. To enhance these aims, the colours used throughout the whole building are inspired by the colours of wine (red, pink and white), as are the materials, which would be those used in the wine production process (wood and glass).
