Mariona Mallol Carrizosa - La Llotja

La Lonja

The project consists of a renovation of the building to adapt it to the new needs and to fuse the commercial idea of La Lonja with another more social-leisure one that aims to bring the public to the building and allow them to share in the activities organised there.

The three large spaces that summarise how it is used are: the commercial one (where the fish auction and retail sale to fish shops is held), the gastronomic one (where we find a restaurant offering fish tastings) and the museum one (which shows the history of the Fishermen’s’ Guild of Palamós).

A route through the three spaces is planned which is defined by wooden flooring. The route is accompanied by 5x4 m (20 m2) galvanised steel boxes that contain the various logistical services of La Lonja. And finally, the whole accessible space that is not intended for the itinerary or the boxes/containers is white resin flooring.

The idea is to project these three spheres that define the essence of Palamós through the building, at all times respecting its operation.
