Kyoto

A series of reflections and references about the idea of space created using an object, such as Chillida or Krijn de Koning, was taken as the starting point to the project that became Kyoto.

Although the initial intention was to create a product that would break up an interior space, a series of elements were merged together resulting in a hybrid windbreak-sofa that is Kyoto. Designed for the contract furniture industry, one of the aims of the project was to give a more domestic focus and aesthetic to a space that could become cold and impersonal.

A visible structure, a single cushion and a small floating private space are some of the distinguishing characteristics of this product for which I have tried to provide the most delicate visual approximation possible.
