The project consists of refurbishing a public library for the town of Hostalets de Balenyà, in Osona county. It is located in the current nursery school building and contemplates interior and exterior work.
The aim of the exterior work on the building is to open it up to the public by getting rid of the perimeter enclosure and treating the main (southern) façade as a path for pedestrians. The dominant element is the lineal porch that helps guide users towards the entrance and gives the building its personality. The interior spatial layout is based on a modular approach created by the entrances and exits of the saw teeth-like northern façade. The most static lengthy consultation uses, on the first floor, are separated from the more dynamic uses and activities on the ground floor. The interior false ceiling acts as a continuous reference running the length of the building and which projects the passage space and helps position and guide users towards the interior of the facility.
