Joan Marc Ferret - Correfoc

Correfoc

The project consists of a support for rockets to be used in traditional correfoc (fire run) festivities. The aim is to improve the use of these supports to reduce the number of accidents and burns. The product is intended for anyone taking part in this popular dance with fire.

The project emerged as a result of the appearance of European Directive 2007/23/CE, which threatened the continuance of the Catalan fire culture heritage.

The support is designed to be made from PC and PP aluminium, and various procedures are used for each part in its manufacture: gluing, turning-folding, curving-machining, welding, moulding and epoxy painting.

The product has several possibilities: lighting fixed rockets (support that the user holds without moving) and lighting in motion. The support can be lengthened and shortened and can withstand class 3, 4 and 5 rockets.

The product is derived from the hand-made forks and sceptres of the correfoc groups. Design has been used vary scarcely in these objects. My product innovates pyrotechnic supports without losing the poetry connected with the dance of the devils.
