The aim of the project has been to create a new layout for the metro map based on the information processing carried out by the brain according to connectionist models.
We chose this model due to its unquestionable psychological approach, as it is inspired by the brain cell structures and because it provides designers with a new and less rigid way of designing understanding and perception layouts.
Conceiving the brain as connectionist, we reach an approach that calls for a dynamic and non-linear design. With a dynamic approach, the resulting map is not subject to the route taken by the metro but to the route taken by the user and the connections they can make.
The motivation behind the project has not been to find an improved solution to the existing design but to achieve another vision of the metro map.
