The project consists of creating an arts centre specialising in theatre and dance at the Can Marfá textile factory.
This is a building that is marked by its symmetry and a change of use involves a change in its appearance. Even with this, my aim is to maintain the spirit of the factory but adapt it to the needs of the centre.
The warehouse consists of three floors of 15 m x 75 m, where I plan to run a programme which includes a 145-seater theatre and facilities for a theatre and dance school, with a library and café. To join the different levels together, an annexe to the building has been created which does not follow the symmetry marked by the factory.
The crux of the project lies in breaking the linear symmetry of the factory through cylindrical volumes which make the intervention unique.
