einaidea and MACBA Grant

einaidea Grant for the Aurèlia Muñoz Centennial

einaidea Collaboration Grant in Graphic Design and Exhibition Graphics. Aurèlia Muñoz Centennial

einaidea, within the framework of the Aurèlia Muñoz Centenary promoted by the MACBA Museu d’Art Contemporani de Barcelona (Museum of Contemporary Art of Barcelona), is launching its second collaboration grant for graduates, master's students, and doctoral students in design. This grant is specifically aimed at young professionals with experience in graphic design and a particular interest in applying design to the museum field and contemporary art exhibitions.

The grant will be developed within the framework of the Aurèlia Muñoz Centenary celebration, in which a constellation of cultural institutions in Catalonia are joining forces to celebrate one of the most outstanding artists of the 20th century. Curated by the Aurèlia Muñoz Archive and with the scientific advice of einaidea, the commemorative year will include significant events between autumn 2026 and spring 2027, among which several exhibitions will take place throughout Catalonia. Among them, the major retrospective Aurèlia Muñoz. Entities, opening at MACBA on November 4, 2026, will occupy a prominent place, as will the symposium associated with the exhibition, followed by numerous workshops and activities.

Required profile

The collaboration is aimed at individuals with:

  • A strong interest in research on the history of art and its interactions with contemporary design
  • Active practice in graphic design and its spatial applications
  • Ideally, prior experience in publishing and/or exhibition projects

The grant is geared towards final-year Master's and postgraduate students in design and recent alumni currently residing in Catalonia.

Grant objective

This grant offers the opportunity to gain experience in a large-scale curatorial project, actively contributing to the exploration of graphic applications of the artistic concepts that permeate the work of Aurèlia Muñoz and the einaidea curatorial project. The grantee's key tasks will include collaborating on the definition of graphic applications for the museum display (labels, contextual texts, printing materials, etc.), as well as supporting the generation of preliminary visualizations and documentation of specific aspects of each project. All these tasks, monitored by the einaidea team, will be carried out in close collaboration with them and with the teams at MACBA and the Aurèlia Muñoz Archive.

Main tasks

  • Exploring possibilities and/or adapting design elements to museum displays (labels, floor plans and site descriptions, gallery guides)
  • Layout of these materials in dialogue with the exhibition catalog design and the MACBA corporate identity
  • Identifying materials for these materials with a focus on innovation, relevance, and sustainability
  • Exploring alternative formats for content and documentation (online and/or print) generated by the various manifestations of the Aurèlia Muñoz Centenary exhibition after its opening
  • Participation in a weekly team meeting; dedicating the remaining time to research
