Zoe Matalon and Carla López in El Ciervo

Zoe Matalon and Carla López, 3rd year students of the Bachelor of Design, are the authors of the cover of the January-February 2025 issue of El Ciervo, the independent magazine of thought and culture, published in Barcelona since 1951.

This project is the result of the collaboration between Eina and El Ciervo, which proposed to the students of the subject Creative Labs 1 – Art Direction, led by Yuri Alemany, the exercise of creating a cover for issue 809 of the publication, centred on the theme ‘Is romantic love in crisis?’.

This leitmotiv has also been the leitmotiv of the 49th edition of the El Ciervo-Enric Ferran Prize for journalistic articles, which will be awarded on Tuesday 18 February at 7.30 pm at the + Bernat bookshop in Barcelona (C/ Buenos Aires, 6), and which was won by Iria Conde with the article entitled Definiciones (Definitions).

Through this prize, El Ciervo wants to encourage reflection on what romantic love means in the 21st century, how it manifests itself and what its deepest meanings are, offering answers to questions that touch on almost existential issues in order to create a space for critical reflection.
