The Urge of Living

"The Urge of Living", new book by Alberto Polo

Alberto Polo, photographer and professor of the Bachelor ofDesign, presents his new book "The Urge of Living" at the Polycopies fair in Paris on 8 November.

Constructed as a kind of visual diary, "The Urge of Living" is the result of more than ten years of elaboration, working with the archive and shaping an emotional body of work, starting from the mix of photographic memories captured over a period of more than twenty years of documenting the skateboarding subculture as a professional skateboard photographer.

Anonymous skateboarders and teenagers, daily routines on the road, urban landscapes and vistas, accidental encounters on the street, people partying and a glimpse into more intimate moments all serve to build a journey of youthful initiation into discovering the world through to adulthood.

"Driven by my personal experience as an active part of history and as a first-hand documentarian for many others, "The Urge of Living" is a book based on the skateboarding world, but it turns out to be so much more. It is a story about youth, passion, friendship and love and the pages of this book undoubtedly contain a description of a very intense period of my life and of so many others with whom I shared, even if it was only for a short time, my life, with whom I shared, even if it was only for a brief moment, to take a photo and thus remember the moment always more," says Alberto Polo.

The Urge of Living", published by Japanese publisher SUPER LABO, will be released on 15 November.
