Rubén Alcaraz’s Master’s Final Project Awarded

The Master’s Final Project by Ruben Alcaraz, head of achive at EINA, won the third prize of the University Project most innovative in the field of Information and documentation management awarded by SEDIC(Spanish Association of Information and Documentation) and the School of Information Sciences at the Complutense University.

The work explores the possibilities of the different APIs available in the market for the creation of digital maps and location-based applications, to create services related to geographical information (routes, waypoints, etc.) accessible to blind people. Within the project, there was the development of a proof of concept (or prototype) based on the Google Maps JavaScript API, based on the requirements identified in the analysis of the characteristics of the target group, guidelines for web content accessibility (WCAG 2.0) and WAI-ARIA specification 1.0.
