Official Master EEES: Master in Research in Art and Design

EHEA Official Master's: University Master's in Research in Art and Design 4 November 2013 to 30 June 2014 60c Coordinator: Gerard Vilar

The expression "Research in Art and Design" has a double meaning. On the one hand, it means the theoretical study of artistic phenomena and those associated with design. This meaning leads to the theory and critique of art and design. On the other, it has a literal meaning in that art and design can be forms of research into aspects of the world that produce different types of knowledge, both in the creation process and in the result. This points to profound cultural changes related more closely to visual and aesthetic culture rather than written culture, so much so that young and future generations will depend increasingly on these types of knowledge as opposed to the purely discursive ones. The aim of the course is to update training programmes in response to these highly important cultural changes.
