Students of the subject Properties and Uses of New Materials in Design hosted the visit of Mariano Campoy, physics researcher at ICMAB (Institute of Materials’ Science of Barcelona).
The activity was part of the course with the aim of bringing research in the field of new materials, closer to the classroom. Students learned about what is the profile of a current researcher and realized that the answers to two of the questions initially posed : "What makes a good designer ? " and " What makes a good scientist ?" have much similar answers to those one would image in advance. Thus, curiosity, methodology, rigor , being able to convey an idea in simple and comprehensible terms or avoidance to prejudices, are some examples of the common traits to both. What’s therefore the scope of materials science ? The study of materials under multidisciplinary scopes.
Our most sincere gratitute to Mariano Campoy for his enthusiastic lecture at EINA.
