Lights in Alingsås

Helena Calzado and Iku Ricard Sala at Lights in Alingsås, Europe’s leading light festival

The student of the University Master’s Degree in Design of Spaces, Helena Calzado, and the Bachelor in Design student Iku Ricard Sala have been selected to take part in the prestigious international workshop Lights in Alingsås 2026, one of the leading educational experiences in the field of architectural and urban lighting design. The selection forms part of the grants promoted by Lightecture, which this year have chosen ten students from universities and educational institutions across Spain and Latin America.

The workshop, held annually in the Swedish city of Alingsås, brings together students and young professionals from around the world to collaboratively develop real lighting installations under the guidance of renowned international designers.

With this selection, Helena and Iku follow in the footsteps of other students linked to the Design Degree who have previously taken part in the programme, including Aina Vilardell and Lluc Pallicer, further strengthening the institution’s presence within this international environment of experimentation and creativity.

Lights in Alingsås is regarded as a leading international platform for the training and promotion of emerging talent in the field of lighting design. Iku Ricard Sala’s participation strengthens the Design Degree’s connection with international spaces for innovation and creative experimentation, while continuing the institution’s presence in this renowned Swedish workshop.
