Jordi Colomer, patron of the Eina Foundation and former student of the centre, presents the exhibition 'Façana, Foto, Festa, Futur, Fideus', which opens on Wednesday 8 May at 7 pm at MACBA (Pl. Àngels, 1).
The exhibition, curated by Martí Peran, offers an extensive overview of the work developed by Jordi Colomer from the late 1980s to the present day, through multiple formats: sculpture, collages, photography, video, installations and live actions. Rather than explaining the evolution of his career, this wide-ranging group of works aims to explore in depth what makes it possible to conceive it in a unitary way. The key we propose is the scenic condition: where the illusory and reality converge in a continuous back-and-forth.
After a first period focused on exploring the materiality of fiction through the production of sculpture-objects, Colomer transferred this learning to the streets in order to multiply the relations between imagination and reality. From this displacement arise numerous questions that will become recurrent: mobility and nomadism, the provisional and the peripheral, the popular imaginary and humour, community and utopia.
The graphic design and communication of the exhibition were the work of Oriol Cabarrocas, a former Eina student.
‘Façana, Foto, Festa, Futur, Fideus' can be visited until 24 September at MACBA.
