Eina has participated in the I2Planet teaching innovation programme, developed in collaboration with European universities such as Esade Business School, IED Barcelona, IQS Instituto Químico de Sarrià, Laurea University of Applied Sciences, Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) or the Università di Bologna.
A group of students from Eina's University Master's Degree in Research in Art and Design collaborated with this project, which took place intensively for 10 days last July at Fusion Point in Barcelona and at IdeaSquare CERN in Geneva.
The I2Planet innovation programme has a transdisciplinary character and brings together students from different academic disciplines such as Design, Engineering, Business, Law or IT, Information and Communication Technologies.
The aim of this project is to get participants to tackle complex challenges under conditions of high uncertainty, generate informed assumptions and develop rapid and complex decision-making skills, while emphasising the importance of communication, teamwork and the ability to lead and manage tasks independently and in a team.
The disciplines of Futures Design, Speculative Design and System Thinking were the vehicle for the development of the programme. As a starting point, participants had to solve different challenges on a hypothetical planet under extreme conditions. During the second part of the programme, participants applied the learning and methodologies acquired to a specific challenge set on our planet in the year 2045.
The different teams worked collaboratively and holistically on complex concepts, facing challenges in areas such as the definition of products and services, the establishment of policies for action and coexistence, communication strategies, the application of technologies or the resolution of social conflicts.
