Artist and designer Àlex Bou, a graduate of Eina’s Bachelor in Design, is the creator of Bloom, an audiovisual piece that explores institutional transformation as an open, fragmented and non-linear process. The project was developed under the curatorship of Jordi Colomer, an internationally recognised artist in the field of video installation, a former Eina student and current board member of the Foundation.
Conceived as a visual device, the piece is structured around eight autonomous temporal capsules that do not follow a linear progression, but instead present moments that coexist and generate mutual tension. The structure avoids the idea of an evolutionary narrative and approaches transformation as a constellation of simultaneous fragments.
“Bloom approaches transformation as a non-linear and fragmented process. The eight capsules do not establish a sequence, but rather operate as coexisting states, traversed by the same tension. They neither progress nor conclude: they persist,” Bou explains.
Through this perspective, Bloom also reflects on Eina’s own institutional identity. The institution appears as a living reality, in constant motion, far removed from any static or definitive idea. “Looking at the institution not as a stable framework, but as a body that mutates and transforms,” the artist notes.
The project was developed with the support of the Eina Foundation. Bou also wished to highlight the collaborative nature of the process: “I’m very pleased to present this visual document, a project that began taking shape some time ago. I would like to sincerely thank all the talented people I had the opportunity to work with, many of them friends, with whom I hope to continue collaborating in the future.”
Àlex Bou’s work had previously been recognised with a Gold Laus Award at the ADG-FAD awards for his final degree project Màquines Fútils, in the Audiovisual category. With Bloom, Bou continues to explore the potential of audiovisual language to rethink creative processes and cultural institutions from a critical and contemporary perspective.
The presentation of Bloom took place on 29 April 2026 as part of Eina Plataforma.
