Emboscada #11: Serge Clottey

Ambush #11: Serge Clottey: Passage of Silence, Dance, Memories Resonate

The artist Serge Clottey, in collaboration with the Fundació Antoni Tàpies, einaidea, the Periferia Cimarronas Coperative and the TNC, presents the urban performance Passage of Silence, Dance, Memories Resonate on Tuesday 2 July. In conjuction with the inauguration of Clottey's installation on the façade of the Fundació Antoni Tàpies, part of the project Beyond the Skin and also produced in collaboration with einaidea, this collective and performative act culminates the work of group construction and exploration that has taken place at Eina Bosc over the last two weeks.

As part of the programme Ambushes, with a group of participants convened by einaidea and Periferia Cimarronas —Ornella (None) Agueli, Mònica Alonso i Martín, Daniela Castilho Duarte, Samuel Cespedes, Ihosvany Cisneros, Ariadna Garriga Ballarín, Cristina Miranda Nicotera, Verónica Navas Ramírez, Federica Pagano, Fernando Palma Fanjul, Alicia Palma Viviani, Clelia Palumbo, Claudia Quevedo, Lara Requena, Maria Sierra Coma, Abril Tormos, Amada Tinoco and Claudia Viviani Julio— have created the mural that will be on the façade of the Fundació Antoni Tàpies until December.

Reflections have converged around the ecology of waste and neo-colonial geopolitics, as well as the dress and the mask as vehicles of celebration, community invocation and pan-African resistance. Paso de silencio, baila, resuenan memorias will take place on Tuesday 2 July at 6.30 pm in front of the Fundació Antoni Tàpies, starting an itinerary that will cross the streets of Barcelona, passing through buildings inherited from the city's colonial history and culminating in the gardens of the TNC, with a performance by Serge Clottey and Amada Tinoco, a member of the Periferia Cimarronas Cooperative. This action will be followed by a concert by Senegalese musician Momi Maiga, as part of the Grec Festival.
