This Crater of Opacity

Drawing from Édouard Glissant’s defence of “everyone's right to opacity” as a basis for a truly diverse creative ecosystem, this exhibition presents an assemblage of signs, traces, and gestures through selected student projects from across Eina’s ecosystem. Indexing approaches to design as a relational and ceremonial practice, every work emerges from the weaving of intimacies and the production of shared spaces, not entirely transparent nor accessible in the first place—temporary zones of common affect and inspiration where the notion of project neighbors that of ritual. Opacity, partial or total invisibility, appears as a necessary tactical stance to create and think together, and to allow otherness and otherworldliness to become present and influence us. Through opacity, the transpersonal emerges as a potential, but also as a limit.

This exhibition, as part of We Will Design 2026: Hello Darkness at BASE Milano, presents a selection of recent projects from Eina’s Bachelor of Design, the Research Master of Art and Design (MURAD), and the Master in Design of Spaces (MUDE), curated by the einaidea platform.
