WAWA is a family of modular furniture for children designed for extracurricular education spaces. WAWA took three months to create, during which I worked with creative workshops and children who, unintentionally, took part in the conception and creation of the design.
Joining two pieces together creates a stool that adjusts to any height and grows if I add a third piece. A large trunk on wheels means I can store all the class material and I can hitch the lid to the stool and create a bench that seats four. A table created at different heights means playing around with other pieces in the family. I can go from a classroom to a fantastic theatre, just by playing!
I can join the stool to the lid, the rung to the stool, the table to the rung and the rung to the lid. There’s no end of playing, playing is what it’s all about. I just have to imagine the rest…
