Taxi ranks are a new urban element which constitutes an attractive and safe way of bringing the taxi service to a potential user. Taxi ranks are located in places that are not easy for public transport to reach, as they have difficult access or have an irregular service.
The outskirts of today’s urban centres contain a whole number of public service infrastructures. Many of these infrastructures are nursing homes, hospitals, funeral homes, etc., which during the week generate a continuous flow of people. However, establishing a regular transport route is difficult, as demand, although intense, is not always continuous. Leisure activities (football matches, concerts, shows, etc.) also entail their own similar problems.
