The former steam textile factory in Terrassa is to become the setting for the t40, a workshop space with the necessary facilities to develop small-scale textile production. The workshop is equipped to meet the needs of everyone who may require facilities of this type, be they students or professionals, from the fashion industry or outside it, be they traditional designers or emerging creators. Therefore, the space has been designed as a meeting point for the different generations, which favours the exchange of knowledge and interests among its various users.
The building, distinguished by the repetition of the structural elements (truss and pillar), offers an empty container space in which an interior architecture has been planned that is understood as a series of elements which maintain a dialogue with the warehouse and highlight both the volume and emptiness that this encapsulates. The central axis houses the work areas and the ends house the secondary and service areas. Access to the interior is through the passage. Textures adopt a special role in the project: changes to flooring which mark out the zoning, covering with acoustic panels and the use of deployé mesh combined with the effect of LED lighting.
