Alba Valero - Switch

Switch

Switch is defined as a temporary event aimed at raising awareness in society towards abandonment. The event is accompanied by a programme of music, artistic and collective activities designed to influence greater numbers of visitors.

To avoid damaging the land, the elements are superimposed on to the space.

Given the ephemeral nature of the event, inexpensive materials are used, with interactive rented structures and elements which give the setting an ethereal and homogeneous feel.

The dominant material is fabric in different forms: electroluminescent fabric, nylon, backlight canvas, etc. Fabric is the ephemeral material par excellence, as it conveys a sense of fragility and delicateness. Fabric has movement, inertia and strengthens everything around it. All the fabrics light up when night falls, creating a visual show with one day image and one night image.

The idea is to convey the sense of protection emanating from the ruin, like a second protective skin, and which, at the same time, in some areas does not disclose what it is hiding, but simply hints at it.
