The project involves redesigning the former Sant Adrià de Besòs town hall, which is currently not in use, to adapt it to the requirements of the new municipal facility aimed at providing spaces and services to help some of the city’s organisations and groups stage cultural activities of general interest.
In terms of the building’s interior layout, the first key decision that underpins the entire project is to establish a vertical axis delimited by the original structure of the building, as this contains as second property annexed at a later date. The space generated by this line is used to create a vertical opening in the building as a whole, hiding the wrought ironwork and roof, to create an interior courtyard which provides the property with zenithal light.
