Single System is an experimental project with a speculative profile that investigates the possibility of moving away from the visual prejudices and figurative representations in the graphic universe of music.
Taking the quote by Joseph Müller Brockmann as its starting point, Music is invisible and we therefore have to seek its representation out of abstraction, I propose to create a graphic system for classifying music based on its characteristics using an abstract and geometric language. This system comprises 56 characteristics grouped into 6 parameters, offering a range of over 3,500,000 combinations. The method regarding its use consists of combining the graphically represented characteristics of a song (colour, texture and shape) to form an image that reflects the essence of the music.
Single®, a brand devoted to the commercialisation of individual songs in a physical format at a very reasonable price, was created to promote this system and put into practice this graphic and theoretical investigation, thereby reviving the fetishism of music collecting. The packaging reflects the philosophy of Single®, thanks to its low production costs and the use of the system as a cover, making it easy to identify and subsequently classify.
