Alejandra Arbó Argila - Shhh

Shhh

Shhh is the first wordless film festival: a little-known genre that is based on images and sound and in which the voice is omitted.

The aim of the project has been to show the characteristics and the values of this genre through the naming, the logo and all the graphic elements of the festival in order to communicate the concept in an attractive way for the audience at which it is aimed, more specifically a minority audience outside the official discourse of commercial cinema.

With the image of the festival, the aim is to convey three principal concepts:

  • the absence of words
  • the existence of sound
  • the nature of film festival

All of this is done through a graphic element, a line, that when used in different ways permits these concepts to be conveyed to all the elements created. This line emerges after the creation of the logo. Based on the onomatopoeia shhh, which conveys the concept of not speaking (absence of words), we come to the naming. Once treated topographically, this ends up joining the baseline through a line to finally create the logo.

This line will be what gives rise to the creation of all the elements of the project.
