Mariona Espinet - Redisseny de l'Aplec del Cargol

Resdesigning l'Aplec del Cargol

L’Aplec del caragol (Snail Festival) (in Lleida) is a fiesta that appeals to national tourism that receives 200,000 visitors and mobilises 12,000 participants. Over 4 days in May, twelve tons of snails are consumed. How can I merge a popular fiesta with design?

The aim of the project is to improve the conditions of the festival, foster interrelations between visitors and participants, communication and image, and all without losing sight of the essence of the fiesta, where the members of the various clubs are the protagonists. In other words, to create a neutral space where the colour code is the language used to identify the clubs.

I am therefore adapting the urban park to be used for a wide range of activities, I am making it suitable for other events and gradually improving the aesthetical and functional conditions. To improve fluidity and comfort, both for visitors and for participants, I am rearranging the paths and formats that are always associated with the square marked out for the intervention in the urban park. I also wish to improve communication and the arrangement of the clubs by proposing uniformity to the materials and their distribution, but respecting the freedom of club members and their personalisation, which is so important to this festival.
