The project is based on the renovation of the Les Corts Youth Centre and aims to promote the art and culture taught at the workshops there, as well as the communal spaces that the centre offers for activities other than the workshops. It proposes a physical change and a change to the programme at the centre. Using the constructive structure of the premises as a starting point and making the most of the natural light, two large blocks have been created. The first is one of the glass cubes, which is located behind the entry of natural light on the main facade. Here we find the library/study room and the services. The second block houses the bar-cinema, the exhibition room and the classrooms used for the workshops.
The whole set-up, the creation of double heights, the removal of opaque walls and the use of light and coloured materials make the youth centre a transparent and very light place full of life. The aim of creating a space where users find the motivation of the freedom of movement and the observation everything done in the centre meets the objectives on which the project is based.
