Renovating a Home

The adaptation of a home designed by architect Antoni Bonet Castellana for a new family set-up where two spaces co-exist that are to be used for the enjoyment of the owner’s art collection both day and night.

The project divides the home into two spaces: a day area and a night area. The day space contains the living room, dining room and kitchen. The night space includes the bedrooms and their respective bathrooms. The passageway is the communal space that links the two spaces.

White dominates throughout in different textures and materials. Concrete is a widely used material which recalls the block of homes that has been designed entirely with this material. Stripped oak brings a warm and laid-back feel to the space. The lighting consists fundamentally of indirect light.

The aims of the project have been to unify the day area as a large and warm space, with a huge gas chimney that runs the length of an extensive wardrobe and storage space to create expansive and well-communicated rooms that are more comfortable for everyday living and to introduce a new concept in homes and a new way of life.
