The project consists of the renovation of three summer homes on the same estate in L’Ametlla de Mar. All three houses are in an identical Art Deco style both inside and out, stand above ground level on walls and pillars, and each house is three storeys high.
The proposal is based on renovating the homes for three siblings and their respective families. The following steps were taken to achieve this: areas of shared and flexible spaces were created which allow the constant interaction of the families who spend their summers there, also giving them the possibility of recovering their privacy by means of large sliding doors which separate the living rooms and modular furniture; using the in-flow of natural light to the full by creating an internal courtyard (incorporating the staircase) which at the same time acts as a limit between the shared space and each family’s private space; and enhancing the relationship between the interior and the exterior by introducing the natural stone that covers the house in the internal courtyard and, also, linking the terrace areas to the living rooms through the furniture, external flooring and fully-folding carpentry, making the feeling of constant fresh air throughout possible.
