Refurbishment of a Farmhouse to convert it into a restaurant in the historic heart of Calafell

Restaurant in a seventeenth/eighteenth-century farmhouse in the historic heart of the town of Calafell.

The attraction of the premises lies in its space, the fusion of history and modernity, in a unique setting. The refurbishment and renovation will respect the original exterior, with an interior featuring painstaking and comfortable interior design, where diners feel at ease.

The strategy used in the process of the project is the design of a central element that solves all the space needs. The aim of the emptying of the core of the building, which defines this process, is to comply with accessibility regulations, it enables the distribution of the programme and optimisation of the spaces, it creates an interior route and communicative relation between floors and it allows light to enter the inside of the building through a skylight. This process is recurrent in other rooms, such as the lobby and the kitchen.

The reuse of the old space enables the establishment of great contrasts that highlight the value of the construction based on contrast with the core, with white materials and noble materials such as wood, which provides warmth, the stone of the thick perimeter walls typical of this type of traditional construction and the Corten steel openings that are let into the walls.
