The project consists of the refurbishment of the accesses and bar of the Nau Ivanow complex in La Sagrera, Barcelona. The aim is to create/restore exterior and interior spaces to bring together and improve the whole of the facilities.
Situated in industrial premises, the bar of the Nau Ivanow is the meeting point for users of the complex. As regards distribution, two modules are conceived that act as two sub-spaces in the large container whose aim is to organise the different uses. Both are formally set against each other as a transparent surrounding element is proposed that communicates the interior with the courtyard by a piece that works as a shelter/bench/flooring of micro-perforated galvanised steel. This material has been used to establish a dialogue between the open brickwork factory architecture and the smooth surface of steel, while the toilets are hidden in an opaque module covered in red Trespa panels, referring to the world of performing arts. The central part is an open space with high bars for the events staged at Nau Ivanow.
