Redesign of the Diari de Manlleu

El Serpent is a publishing design project that redesigns a local weekly newspaper, the Diari de Manlleu.

At present, this weekly paper limits itself to the writing and publishing of a range of news related to the town to which it belongs, but it does not have a clear structure in the design of the information. This shortcoming means that the publication is distant from the younger population and is maintained solely thanks to the reading habit of the older sector of the population.

The aim of the redesign is to reorganise all of this information, to provide the weekly with its own style and to bring it nearer all the people of Manlleu. For this reason, the objective is to achieve a neutral, open, functional, practical and orderly style.

In implementing the design, the contents of the weekly paper have been analysed exhaustively to be able to understand the needs and provide a solution to the editorial design.

The solution adopted has been to use graphic elements that provide this renewing character while fulfilling functions of structure, order and hierarchy.
